Sobriety Films UK has worked innovatively using co-production to amplify the voice of those who often struggle to be heard by society.  They are a unique organisation, building a community of people with new skills, confidence, and a renewed understanding of themselves.  Using film people are able to control and create the narrative of their often-painful journeys of recovery and glimpse into the future,  accompanied by Maddie and her team who navigate this difficult terrain so beautifully to support and inspire participants.

"Worked with Maddie as a participant in a short film about mental health and the healing powers of art.  I loved working with Maddie and although she is the ultimate professional in her film making, she has a kind and empathic warmth to her that helps put nerves and self doubt to one side.  All credit to Maddie, the final film was amazing and powerful.  I highly recommend Maddie and her work to anyone looking for a very competent and caring filmmaker."

"My experience of the filmmaking workshop was inspirational. I did not feel any pressure to be in the film and a few kind words of encouragement helped me to relax and gave me confidence. My favourite part was seeing the first screening of the films and giving feedback to my peers. Working in a serious group with student fellow film makers and watching them on their journeys during the course was a lot of fun. To see their films of their past lives and where they all are now was very empowering. We had a great group full of beautiful characters. It's been emotional."

"I will be forever grateful for meeting and working with Maddie.  Her professionalism and expertise made the process very straightforward.  Her personality and charisma as well as a 'doer' approach made all the difference to all the aspects of film making which would otherwise be very stressful, for example a very short deadline.  I will definitely work with Maddie again and she will always be a person from 'my tribe'."

"I always wanted to make a film about my recovery. I have enjoyed every single minute of it. My confidence has increased. I got enough support from the staff, they were all very professional and kind, understanding and patient. I am so happy I was able to complete my first ever short film."
